CHAPTER 1

Sophia’s POV

 Mom, Dad look at me! I squealed as I was halfway up a tree. Look how far I can go; I can see almost all the pack lands. My dad told me to come down before he had to come up and get me because I went too high and his laughter is the last thing I ever heard from him. One minute I was laughing and having a great time with my parents and the next several rogue wolves came and started circling my parents. They were snapping their jaws and growling at them. My parents quickly shifted and tried to keep them away. My dad quickly jumped on the biggest one and started to take him down, but two of them approached my mom, and that caused him to turn his head towards her for one second. In that one second, my entire life changed, and I was completely unaware of how bad it could get. The second that my mom felt the mate bond break from my dad dying, she gave up and let the two wolves that were circling her attack her. “MOM!” I screamed out and jumped down from the tree. I felt my arm snap when I landed, but I didn’t feel the pain because the pain in my heart was more. I watched as those two rogues slowly ripped my mom to pieces. I was frozen and couldn’t get my body to move. I stood there screaming for them to stop, but they didn’t listen. There was a third wolf who had just stood back and watched this whole thing happen. He slowly approached me, but I heard people from my pack coming to my rescue. He reached up with his claws and slashed at my chest, ripping it open. I fell to the ground, screaming again. The three rogues took off in the direction that they came from. They were gone before anyone from the pack arrived. Sam, the pack’s Beta, and a few warriors were the first to arrive. They quickly each went to one of us. No one was saying a word, but I knew that my parents were dead already. They didn’t have to say it. “Why would you kill your parents?” The beta said with venom laced in his voice. “IIII dddiiidddnnn’ttttt.” I mumbled. I was terrified that they were going to kill me. “Then tell me what happened?” “Rogues,” was all I could get out. “You mean to tell me that rogues killed your parents and let you live?” I couldn’t answer anymore. I was crying too hard. I just shook my head yes at them. “Don’t lie, little girl. Your parents are dead and you have a few scratches on you. You killed them, didn’t you? I knew you were trouble.” “No, I swear.” I finally managed to get out. He turned to a warrior and said, “take her to the dungeon. She is obviously a threat to everyone.” A warrior walked over to me and started to pick me up, but I started to scream as soon as he started to move me. The pain was so bad. I was bleeding from the wounds in my chest and my arm was just hanging there. “Sir, I think she needs medical care. She has some pretty severe wounds on her chest and her arm is badly broken. I should take her to the pack hospital.” The warrior said. “Are you questioning my authority and believing this filthy traitor? Because if so, you can join her in the dungeon,” he growled at the warrior. “No sir. I will take her to the dungeon.” He reached down and picked me up, but the pain was so bad that I screamed until I saw stars and then darkness. When I woke up, I was being laid down gently on a hard cot. The first thing I noticed down here is that it smelled so bad. Like old blood and mold. “I am sorry, girl. I tried to get you help. I will get you some antibiotics as soon as I can and hopefully, you will heal up fast.” The warrior said to me. Three days passed before anyone came down and the person who came down was the Alpha. He walked over to my cell and opened the door. I sat up as gingerly as I could because I was still in so much pain. “Tell me, why did you kill your parents?” The Alpha asked. “I didn’t.” Those were the only words I got out because he slapped me across the face. He put so much force behind it that my head snapped back and I could taste blood on my lip. I brought my head back up and looked him in the eyes and asked, “why are you doing this? I couldn’t kill my parents. I am a child.” “Are you talking back to me, slave?” He spat at me. Slave, I didn’t know what he was talking about. I wasn’t a slave; I was a child. “No sir, I just don’t understand,” I told him. “And that is the only reason you are not being killed for your crimes. You are now the pack slave and for your back talk today, you will receive ten whips.” He said with a glint of happiness in his eyes. He walked towards me and grabbed my arm that wasn’t broken and had something in his other hand that I hadn’t noticed. He pushed me down on my cot face first. I didn’t have time to even register what was happening because I heard the crack of the whip and then felt the pain on my butt. It happened nine more times, and I screamed and cried and begged him to stop the entire time. Once he was done, he got down by ear and whispered: “Remember slave, I enjoy punishing people and I like to hear them scream, so you better learn how to be a good slave really fast or I will happily do that again.” He left me there and walked away, but before he left, I heard him tell someone, “take her to her new room.” “My pleasure.” The man replied. He walked over and ripped me up from where I was still laying and it was the Beta. He pulled me to my new room, which was just a closet with an old mattress and an old worn-out blanket, and a disgusting pillow. He threw me on the bed and turned to close the door, but stopped to say, “Get comfortable because you will be in here until the Alpha feels like letting you out.” He slammed the door, and I could hear his footsteps retreating away from the door. As soon as I felt he was far enough away, I started sobbing again until I fell asleep. This was the beginning of my hell.

CHAPTER 2

Sophia POV 

BEEP BEEP BEEP! My alarm makes the most annoying noise. That noise signals 4 am and if I don’t get out of bed, I won’t get my shower. Being the pack slave, I had to do cooking and cleaning and whatever else the Alpha and Luna deemed necessary. If I let my mouth get the better of me or I didn’t complete my chores, I would be punished. I was also hated by every person in the pack except Sloan. She was an Omega. Omegas were at the bottom of the pack and did everything I did except they got paid and weren’t punished. Some warriors protected the pack, a Gamma and a Beta, and they worked directly with the Alpha and Luna. I stripped down quickly and stepped under the hot water. I quickly washed my hair with shampoo and rinsed it out and put in the conditioner to let it soak for a few minutes. I moved on and washed my body really fast and then rinsed the conditioner. I never stayed in here for long for fear of anyone coming in. When I got out, I was brushing my teeth and looking at my split lip, compliments of the Alphas’ son, Blaine. He is one of the worst ones to me. All I have to do is to be in the same room as him and he will find some way to torture me. His girlfriend, the Betas’ daughter Alyssa, will make it worse with her lies. After getting dressed, I headed to the kitchen and ran into the beta’s son, Spencer. “Hey Sophia, you’re 18 now, right?” Knowing better than to look him in the eyes, I kept my head down and muttered a simple “yes.” He quickly approached me and took a whiff of my scent, although I don’t know why. I don’t know why he would sniff me. My wolf only showed up on my 16th birthday and then was gone the next day. You must smell your mate to recognize the mate bond. I snapped out of my random thoughts as I felt him start to snake his hand up my shirt and grab my left breast. Too shocked to even move, I looked at him in total surprise. “You know, Sophia, I will be 18 in a few days and the way you smell makes me wonder if you will be my mate. Oh, the things I can’t wait to do to you once I am 18. Whether you’re my mate or not, I still plan on doing them to you. Your nice firm breast and your delicious-looking ass have me walking around most days with my c**k half hard.” He said with a smirk on his face. The tears were now flowing freely down my face as he said this, and he was still pinching my n****e hard. I am sure I will have a bruise around my n****e later today. He can’t be my mate, I thought. He would be the worst mate. He has beaten me and groped me since I can remember. He tells me he wants me when no one is around and then if someone shows up; he puts on a front about me. Usually telling anyone that I was once again trying to seduce him to gain rank. “What are you doing touching the pack, w***e?” Screeched Alyssa, Spencer, twin sister. “Don’t touch her. Who knows what kind of diseases you will get,” She continued to say. He quickly dropped his hands and stepped back just as Blaine grabbed me around the throat and started to squeeze. “What are you doing? Do you think your sl*tty ways would get you moved up in the ranks? Your disgusting thinking, he would actually want anything to do with you. Once I am Alpha, I won’t tolerate you and you will be killed for the first thing you do wrong.” The future Alpha spat at me. He finally let go of my throat and I gasped for air and fell to the ground, but before I could even get in a full breath, he split my lip back open with his knee and Alyssa added a swift kick to my ribs. With no time to waste, I ran to the kitchen to prep breakfast before the other omega’s arrived to help cook it. Sloan walked in, saw the blood on my shirt, and immediately told me to change and wash my face. She is what I called a friend, but we didn’t really speak, but she also didn’t hit me or belittle me. I helped serve breakfast and while serving the Alpha, I accidentally spilled some coffee on the table. “Are you even watching what you’re doing, slave?” Yelled Alpha Wayne. “Um, I am sorry; I will clean it right away, sir.” “Clean this and then you know where to meet me. This is unacceptable and you will be punished,” he roared. The rest of the pack was laughing. They all knew what would happen and took enjoyment in it. My parents would be disgusted with the treatment of me. My dad was the pack doctor, and my mom was the lead female warrior. They were also so close to the Alpha and Beta families. They were everyone’s favorite couple. They treated everyone equally regardless of their rank and my dad treated every patient as if they were his family and got the best care. Since they died, everything around here has gone to hell. The pack hospital doesn’t even have a doctor. Nurses and healers run it. The Alpha and Beta basically let anyone do what they want. They have only assigned a few guards to train and guard the borders. “Slave, you better get your ass upstairs before I add to your punishment.” The Alpha yelled out. I guess I took too long to clean up the one drop of coffee and got sidetracked thinking of my parents. I tucked tail and scurried off to go upstairs. I was in no hurry to get up there. I knew what was waiting for me and I wasn’t excited. He liked to take his time coming up here. The longer it took him to come up, usually meant worse punishment because he would think of all the ways he could torture me. One time he left me here for seven hours and when he got here, he was mad I didn’t get my chores done and punished me for that too. The worst was when Alyssa lied and said I ate some cake for a party when I didn’t. He allowed his Beta to join in that day and they left me for dead. I laid on the floor for 2 days not moving because if I did, I would pass out from the pain. I made it up to the room he wanted me in and walked inside. I just walked to the middle of the room and sat down to wait. I tried hard not to think of the way he would punish me because I would have a panic attack. I tried to think of my parents. They were my happy place. It didn’t take long for the Alpha to come up. I could hear him outside the door. I stood up really fast and bowed my head, waiting for him to enter.

CHAPTER 3

Xander’s POV

 Xaaaanderrrr I am going to come, don’t stop, harder, please harder, oh god. The sl*tty blonde beneath was screaming and while she was a good lay, I found her annoying. She had been a friend most of my childhood and was always around. She was someone I used. She thought she would be my mate and my Luna, but little does she know I don’t want a Luna, nor do I need one. I am the Alpha to a large and dominating pack in the northwest states. My dad handed it over to me when I turned 18 and told me that he was doing so with the expectation that I would find my mate and the pack Luna and I did, but she wasn’t who we all thought. My parents were great, they raised me well, and my dad had our pack strong, but I have taken it to a whole new level. Nobody messes with us, and most packs want an alliance. The council has even consulted me on a few problems. The council oversees whether werewolf laws are being followed and will hand down judgments in times that the pack Alpha can’t. As I finished with the blonde known as Clarissa, someone was knocking on my door. I already knew that it was my beta and best friend, Kane. He and I have been best friends since kindergarten. I pulled out and threw the condom away, throwing Clarissa’s clothes at her, telling her to get out. “Xander, you know you are going to be forced to choose a Luna by the council, and I have always been by your side. Always do what you say and give you what you need. When are you going to make me your Luna?” Was this b***h serious? I just shrugged my shoulders at her and pushed her towards the door as Kane was waiting to come in. She left without another word and seemed to be satisfied in thinking that she would be the Luna. “Dude, could you not sleep with the pack sl*t? God, she has this room smelling horrible. Between her perfume and arousal, I want to vomit.” “Shut up, Kane, before I banish you!” “You wouldn’t do that; you would be lost without me.” “You’re right, I would be lost, but seriously, whoever I sleep with is none of your business. What do you want, anyway?” “I have come to remind you that we have to leave on Friday for the stupid Alpha Waynes’ son’s 18th birthday party. I do believe they are combining it with the beta twins.” “Oh god! I hate going to these stupid things, but we have to keep up appearances to keep the council happy.” I know they have been suspicious of this pack for a while, but I am not sure why. “We will leave around 5 pm since it is an hour’s drive and we will come home that night, so no funny business,” I told him “Can’t promise that, boss!” This man, my Beta, really is a man w***e. One day he will meet his mate and she will be disappointed in him. He says he is just gaining experience so he can please his mate fully when he meets her. Little does he know that his mate will love him without all that experience. I had a mate once, and she stabbed me in the back. I gave myself to the mate bond and trusted her with everything, only to find out she was using me. She had a chosen mate with another Alpha, and they were gathering info to take my pack down. The day she rejected me was the day I swore off mates, and if I ever have a second chance, mate, I will not give in to it. I still haven’t found my first mate or the pack she was working with. She is still out there planning an attack; I am sure. My dad linked me and wanted to have lunch. I am sure to go over the plans while I am gone to the stupid birthday party. “Hey Dad, thanks for bringing lunch! I was starving, but really, do we need to discuss plans for Friday night? I mean, we haven’t had a problem in months, and people know not to mess with me. Besides, all the guards know their job and are good at it and, Dad, you know it as well. You’re at all our meetings. “ “Fine, son, you caught me. I really just wanted to have lunch with you and visit. Are you excited about the party?” “No.” “Why? You might meet someone special. Besides, I know that Alpha Wayne would like an alliance with us, as we are the closest pack to him. He has no other alliances and won’t make any other ones.” “Dad, I don’t trust him, and I trust his soon-to-be Alpha even less. They have called several times asking for something. I keep telling them no, but I am going to have to get more forceful with it.” “I am glad that you see it that way. We had an alliance with them, and it ended about 10 years ago. Rogues killed their pack doctor and lead female warrior, but there were other weird things going on, and I’ve never trusted them since then. They also had a child who disappeared at that time. When they were asked about the child, they didn’t know where she was and didn’t make any effort to find her. The council tried helping, and they refused, saying they could handle this. They have been looking into it since and trying to find this child. She was someone who was important.” “What do you mean, she is important?” “She was a special child, but that is all the council would tell me.” “Well, I will keep my eyes open for anything weird.” “Thanks, son.” We finished our lunch with small talk and my dad got up to leave but stopped at the door to again remind me that not all mates are the same and to not write it off if it happened again.
